Highway Department Fire, April 18, 2020

Today was off to a bad start as there was a very destructive and quick moving fire at the Crown Pointh Hghway Department. The structure along with 5 trucks, 4 tractors, 1 backhoe and a bulldozer were totally destroyed. Thankfully, no-one was hurt . The Crown Point Fire Department responded quickly and immediately acquired support from Ticonderoga and Moriah. State and county fire investigators will soon file a report which will define the fire’s origin. Numerous towns in Essex County have pledged their assistance if and when trucks and equipment may be needed. The Town has insurance on all the vehicles and equipment.

Senator Little, Assemblyman Dan Stec and the Governor’s Office have offered their support. A meeting has been scheduled with an insurance adjuster. The Highway Superintendent – Kevin Woods, Town Supervisor – Charles Harrington, and the Town Board will execute all the support needed to make sure the roads remain safe and that a new structure and necessary equipment are replaced.

Thank you, Charles Harrington
